Walpole Computer Foundation has created this privacy statement in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to privacy. The following discloses our information gathering and dissemination practices for the Walpole Computer Foundation Web Site. Our site's registration form requires users to give us contact information (like their name and email address). We use your contact information from the registration form to send you information about the Walpole Computer Foundation events and news. Your contact information is also used to contact you when necessary. Users may opt-out of receiving future mailings; see the choice/opt-out section below. Our site uses an order form for customers to make a donation or pay for an event. We collect visitor's contact information (like their email address) and financial information (like their account or credit card numbers). Contact information from the order form is used to send donation acknowledgements and information about future Walpole Computer Foundation events. The donor’s contact information is also used to get in touch with them when necessary. Users may opt-out of receiving future mailings; see the choice/opt-out section below. Financial information that is collected is used to bill the user donations made. We run contests on our site in which we ask visitors for contact information (like their email address). We use contact data from our contests to send users information about the Walpole Computer Foundation or deliver items they may have won in these contests. The user’s contact information is also used to contact the visitor when necessary. Users may opt-out of receiving future mailings; see the choice/opt-out section below. Security When our registration/order form asks users to enter sensitive information (such as credit card number), that information is encrypted and is protected with industry standard encryption software—SSL. While on a secure page, such as our order form, the lock icon on the bottom of Web browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer becomes locked, as opposed to un-locked, or open, when you are just ‘surfing’. While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online, we also do everything in our power to protect user-information off-line. All of our users’ information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted in our offices. Only Foundation members who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, our treasurer to bill for a donation pledged) are granted access to personally identifiable information. Furthermore, ALL foundation members who have access to this information are kept up-to-date on our security and privacy practices. Every quarter, as well as any time new policies are added, our members are notified and/or reminded about the importance we place on privacy, and what they can do to ensure your information is protected. If you have any questions about the security at our website, you can send an email to treasurer@walpolecomputerfoundation.org Choice/Opt-Out This site gives users the following options for removing their information from our database to not receive future communications or to no longer receive our service. You can send email to webmaster@walpolecomputerfoundation.org requesting removal from our list(s). You can unsubscribe from our email list also by going to our Contact Us page.
