The Walpole Computer Foundation is a two-tiered volunteer organization managed by an Executive Committee. The WCF holds its Annual Meeting in October of each year.

The two membership categories are:

Currently, the WCF has 20 Trustees and 25 Friends in its membership.

The Executive Committee includes:

  • WCF Treasurer
  • WCF Trustees appointed annually by the President

The role of the Executive Committee is to approve WCF grant decisions as recommended by the WCF Advisory Board, make policy decisions as needed throughout the year, and serve as advisors to the President.

You may become a member of the WCF in one of two ways:

  • You may become a Trustee by making a one-year commitment to be an active WCF member responsible for chairing a committee or taking on a major role as part of a committee
  • You may become a Friend of the Foundation who participates at a lower level of commitment by helping at events, procuring donations, etc. on an “as available” basis.

Please note that becoming a Friend of the Foundation is a great way to get involved and “learn the ropes” before making the Trustee commitment! Computer expertise is not a prerequisite for membership, since most of the WCF’s activities are focused on fundraising.

Guidelines for membership in the WCF:

WCF Trustee

  • One year commitment
  • Agree to chair or serve in major role on one or more committees
  • Intend to remain active in WCF for more than one year, with option to renew commitment annually
  • Support all WCF events in one or more of the following ways:
    • obtain donations, raffle items and/or auction items, sponsors
    • sell tickets
    • volunteer to help during event
  • Trustees have voting rights

Friend of the Foundation

  • Participate in self-selected WCF activities when available
  • May elect to chair or serve in a major role on one or more committees
  • Friends do not have voting rights

WCF Executive Committee

  • Appointed by the President at Annual Meeting for one-year term
  • Includes President and Treasurer
  • Must be WCF Trustee or Friend for at least one year prior to appointment
  • Must understand mission and operation of WCF
  • Must have demonstrated commitment to long-term success of WCF
  • Priority given to committee chairpersons
